When I'm not doing research or teaching, you will most likely find me doing one of the following.
Traveling and hiking
I've traveled extensively in the US (43 states) and India (10 states) and have also been to Australia, Canada, France, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. My favorite way to get to know a new place is to explore on foot. Some of my all-time favorite hikes are Mount Atalaya (Santa Fe), Mount Rainier (Seattle), Montserrat (Spain), and the El Yunque Rainforest (Puerto Rico).
Running
I started running in grad school and ran my first half-marathon (the Indy Mini) in May 2018. I try to start my morning with a run at least a couple days a week. And I find that when I've been staring at my computer screen for too many hours straight, a quick run really helps me clear my head and return to work with renewed energy and creativity.
Experimenting in the kitchen
I enjoy trying out new recipes, and I try to balance taste with nutrition. I love exploring different cuisines in my cooking, including Thai, Mexican, Indian, Mediterranean, and Italian...sometimes combining ingredients to create fusions.
